Catharsis Vide Poche belongs to the Catharsis Collection and explores transformation through fracture and recomposition of matter, drawing from the Latin meaning of catharsis as purification through release. In this form, the process is concentrated into a horizontal, contained gesture, where the material defines both structure and void.

The piece is composed of two independent elements that rest together without adhesives or permanent fixings:

– one ultra-clear flat glass insert (5 mm), forming a removable internal surface
– one sculpted mineral stone body, generated to contain and frame the glass

The glass insert is cut from ultra-clear flat glass, maintaining a precise, controlled surface in contrast with the irregular mineral body. It can be easily removed to allow maintenance and cleaning of the internal surface.

The stone, gradually shaped until a precise structural fit with the glass is achieved, is first generated through a controlled, continuous formation of material. During this phase, the perimeter is defined while leaving a central void, allowing the mineral mass to create a contained internal space rather than a solid volume.

The stone draws inspiration from Roman mineral craftsmanship traditions and is developed through proprietary mineral-based processes, without cement or synthetic binders. Unlike subtractive carving approaches, the form is first generated through a controlled, continuous formation of material, requiring precision and timing before any refinement takes place.

Surface intervention remains minimal: the stone is only slightly sculpted, allowing the original material tension to remain visible. Surface protection is achieved through layered natural oil treatments, manually applied and allowed to cure slowly over time. No synthetic sealants or industrial coatings are used.

Over time, the oil may continue to be absorbed by the mineral body, allowing the surface tone to become slightly lighter while maintaining structural integrity.

Each piece is individually crafted. Variations in shape, surface, and proportion are an essential part of the work and reflect its fully handcrafted nature.
