ASSEMBLY & CARE NOTES
Each Cochlea piece is composed of individually calibrated stone and glass elements designed to be assembled by placement alone. The components are not permanently fixed and rely on controlled equilibrium. Detailed assembly guidance and care instructions for each model in the collection can be downloaded below.

CONCEPT
Cochlea originates from the study of land snails and the relationship between shell and body. An opaque, mineral structure coexists with a smooth, luminous form, each depending on the other for balance and protection.
In the collection, this duality becomes a formal system. Hand-shaped stone elements are assembled with a flame-worked glass axis without permanent fixings, relying instead on calibrated equilibrium. The glass passes through the mineral structure, holding water and defining vertical balance.
Each variation explores proportion and release within the same construction logic, tracing transformation not as narrative, but as controlled form.

THE PROJECT
Cochlea Collection
Sculptural vases in stone and flame-worked glass
Cochlea is a sculptural vessel that explores balance, structure, and transformation through form. Each piece is composed of hand-shaped stone elements and a flame-worked glass body, assembled without fixings or adhesives. The object stands through a controlled equilibrium, where weight, tension, and precision determine its final presence.
The collection draws from the morphology of land snails, where an opaque mineral shell coexists with a smooth, luminous body. In Cochlea, this duality becomes a formal system rather than a narrative gesture. Stone and glass evolve together: the stone elements act as a protective and structural shell, while the glass passes through them, holding water and defining the vertical balance of the piece.
The glass component is made from borosilicate tubing, cut and bent entirely by hand at the flame. Its geometry requires extreme control, as no moulds are used in the process. The glass functions as the vessel itself, yet it can exist only through the counterbalance provided by the stone components that surround and sustain it.
The stone is a natural composite material developed in the studio using raw Italian mineral fragments and earth pigments, without cement, resins, or industrial binders. Each stone element is sculpted by hand and repeatedly refined at the points of contact until a precise interlocking fit is achieved. The surface is finished using traditional oil treatments, resulting in a compact, tactile texture that retains its natural irregularity while gaining subtle depth and durability over time.
Cochlea is conceived as a system of variations that trace an implicit cycle of transformation. The different pieces share the same structural logic while exploring shifts in proportion, balance, and release. Throughout the collection, form remains controlled and intentional, allowing the objects to function as vessels while maintaining a sculptural presence grounded in material integrity and constructional clarity.
